Well, the Horns finally got the engine running. Granted, this is a Rice team that came in 0-3, but you have to start somewhere.
Colt and the receivers looked good as usual, and and we threw the ball downfield a lot — very unusual for the Hunt ‘n Peck offense. At one point in the second half, all 11 offensive players on the field were freshmen.
On the defensive side, we held Rice to -11 yards rushing, although they did gain almost 300 yards through the air. I’m still nervous about the D, but let’s hope they keep improving.
Before this week, there was no evidence that we have a chance against OU. Call this game Exhibit A, with the case still under investigation.
