Seth had a good post yesterday on the difference between “workaholics” and passionate workers. To me, the term workaholic has a negative connotation. It implies stress, imbalance, and lack of enjoyment or fulfillment. I picture some guy in an office late at night grinding out a report for his tyrant boss.
But as Seth points out, some people work really hard because they’re passionate about what they’re doing. If you enjoy your work, then the line between work and play becomes blurred. So you end up putting a lot of yourself into your job, but it doesn’t feel like work.
