We got back late last night from a week in Montana with the Lofgrens. We stayed at KevinL’s sister’s cabin outside of Kalispell, which was amazing. Allie and Abby’s “Nana” and “Poppy” came along and were a big help with the kids.
Unfortunately we didn’t take a lot of pictures, but here are a few:
One of the highlights of the trip was getting to see Abby ski for the first time. She did great and didn’t fall even once. Here’s a short video of her “carving up the slopes”:
I skiied 3 days at two mountains, Whitefish and Blacktail, and was pleasantly surprised. The hills aren’t as big as you find in Colorado, but the snow conditions were great and we practically had the mountains to ourselves.
Megan and I also snowshoed one day in Glacier National Park. I’m a fan of almost all outdoor activities, but showshoeing is like tying bricks to your feet and walking through sand. At one point during the hike I looked at Megan and we just burst out in laughter at how un-fun it was. At least we got to see some beautiful scenery.
We had a great time, but I think Montana would be even better in the Summer. I’d like to come back and try some hiking and fishing.
