Megan and I went to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall tonight. It’s the latest movie from the crew that produced 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Superbad. Like those films, Forgetting is a bit raunchy (it even contains full frontal male nudity) but I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard at a movie. And I’m not alone — the film scores 86% on the Tomatometer.
The plot itself is predictable and has been done before, but the writing and acting is what makes this movie shine. Most comedies these days are so formulaic, but this one has a freshness and authentic feel to it. Jason Segel (pictured above) wrote the screenplay and also plays the lead role. We’ll be seeing a lot more of him in the future. Same for Mila Kunis.
This one gets two thumbs up — definitely worth a night of babysitting fees.
