Yosemite Rockslide

One of the boulders that crashed through Curry Village on Wednesday

A pretty big rockfall crashed into Curry Village at Yosemite National Park yesterday (details here).  A few tent cabins were wiped out but amazingly nobody was seriously injured.  This hits home for me because I stayed in these same tent cabins just last month.

The rock face above Curry Village — called Glacier Point Apron — has had a few major rockfalls that have killed people.  A few years ago I was in Camp 4 when a small rockfall occurred in the middle of the night.  It was loud enough to make me jump out of my tent and run away from the wall in my skibbies.
